Romanian Edition of The World Is Yours to Change Celebrated
BUCHAREST, Romania: Adenium Publishing House has released a Romanian edition of The World Is Yours to Change, a compilation of six thematic essays by Daisaku Ikeda, inspired by his encounters with leaders of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
This bilingual book with Romanian and English text is the second book by Daisaku Ikeda that has been translated into Romanian. It was originally released in Japan by Asahi Press in 2002 and has since been published as bilingual editions in Danish, Hebrew, Russian, Arabic, Hindi, Korean and Indonesian coupled with English text.
A gathering commemorating the publication was held on June 15, 2019, in the eastern city of Iași, where the translators of the Romanian edition shared their joy of the book’s release. The event also included a flute and piano concert.
In the collection of essays, Mr. Ikeda details the attitudes and behaviors that he believes to be essential for establishing peace in the twenty-first century. Among the individuals he draws on for instruction and inspiration are Mahatma Gandhi, Arnold J. Toynbee and even a foreign vendor he happened upon as a young boy on the streets of Tokyo. The reader is encouraged to examine stereotypes and overcome prejudices, keeping an open mind to the possibility of a world without violence or war. Offering many insights and a strong message for transforming the world from a culture of violence into a culture of peace, from confrontation to dialogue and division to cooperation, The World Is Yours to Change is sure to spark hope in the youth of Romania, a country which celebrates 30 years since the end of a dictatorship during Eastern Europe’s Revolution.
