Bulgarian Edition of Second Djourova-Ikeda Dialogue Published

SOFIA, Bulgaria: St. Kliment Ohridski University Press of Sofia University has released a Bulgarian edition of the second dialogue between Bulgarian art historian Axinia Djourova and Daisaku Ikeda. Their first dialogue was published in Japanese in 1999 and released in Bulgarian in 2000. This second book is based on a series published in The Institute of Oriental Philosophy’s Journal of Oriental Studies in 2017 under the title Awakening a Great Revival of Our Humanity.

Dr. Djourova is a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and a professor at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” where she also served as Vice Rector and Director of the Ivan Dujcev Center for Slavo-Byzantine Studies. She first met Mr. Ikeda in 1982, engaging in dialogue over four encounters and through written correspondence that was compiled into their first book (working title: “The Beauty of a Lion’s Heart”).

In Bulgaria, this second dialogue has been featured in major newspapers and received acclaim as “a dialogue for humanity.” In a TV interview introducing the book, Dr. Djourova described it as “a dialogue that will inspire a positive outlook and hope in humankind” and expressed her joy in having met Mr. Ikeda, who she said has been a great influence on her life.
