Memorial Prayers for Second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda

On April 2, 2022, the anniversary of the passing of his mentor and second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda, Daisaku Ikeda, together with his wife, Kaneko, visited Soka Gakkai Mentors Hall in Shinanomachi, Tokyo, and recited portions of the Lotus Sutra and chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo (daimoku) in Mr. Toda’s memory and for peace in the world.

The vicinity proliferated with cherry blossoms in full bloom, redolent of the words Mr. Toda expressed to a young Mr. Ikeda, “I want to pass away when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.”

President and Mrs. Ikeda, reminiscing about their mentor who laid a firm foundation for lasting peace through his fervent desire to “eliminate the word ‘misery’ from the world,” together offered prayers for global peace and security, and for the happiness and good health of all people.
