Visitor Centre Opens at Soka International School Malaysia

On June 4, 2022, the Visitor Centre of the Soka International School Malaysia (SISM) was launched, ahead of the school’s opening in August 2023. The Visitor Centre, now open to the public, will allow visitors the opportunity to gain an understanding of the Soka education philosophy on which the school is based.
The event was attended by Malaysia Education Ministry’s Private Education Division’s Deputy Minister Aniza Kamarulzaman and Chief Assistant Director Mohammad Suffian Mahmud; Soka University of America (SUA) President Edward Feazel; Soka Gakkai Malaysia General Director Koh Sia Feai who serves on the SISM Board of Regents; and SISM CEO Michael Kok Fook On.
In a message, Soka Schools founder Daisaku Ikeda stated his hope that SISM would serve as “a new cradle from which global citizens will set out to contribute to the peace and happiness of all people.”
Speakers at the ceremony included SISM CEO Kok and SUA President Feazel, who described the humanistic education approach of Soka that is focused on students’ happiness and encourages them to lead contributive lives and have a global outlook.
SISM, which aims to foster global citizens with wisdom, courage and compassion, will be offering the Cambridge Curriculum, IGCSE, A-Levels and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) within a state-of-the-art, 50-acre green campus.
