SGI President Sends a Congratulatory Message to His Royal Highness King Charles III on His Coronation
The coronation of Charles III and his wife, Camilla, as King and Queen of the United Kingdom, took place on May 6, 2023, at London’s Westminster Abbey. SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Soka Gakkai President Minoru Harada each sent congratulatory messages.
In June 1994, the SGI president met with HM King
Charles, then the Prince of Wales, at his private residence in Gloucestershire,
South West England, where they engaged in discussions on topics such as
architecture, literature and education.
In his congratulatory telegram, the SGI president recalled their talks at the time and his impressions of King Charles’s depth of character and perspicacious insights.
Mr. Ikeda expressed his confidence that the King, together with Queen Camilla, would serve as an inspirational example for people around the world amidst the various global challenges of today.
