Visitors at the exhibition
The exhibition, “The Life and Achievements of Daisaku Ikeda—95 Years of Unyielding Resolve,” currently on display at the Soka Culture Center in Shinjuku, Tokyo, first premiered at the memorial gathering for SGI President Ikeda held in January 2024 at the Hotel New Otani in Tokyo.
The
first half of the exhibition highlights Mr. Ikeda’s extraordinary life,
showcasing his authorship of the novels The Human Revolution and The New Human Revolution, his founding of institutions such as
Soka University and the Min-On Concert Association and his contributions to citizen
diplomacy.
The
second half, titled “The Path of Peace, Culture, and Education,” explores Mr.
Ikeda’s wide-ranging activities rooted in the humanistic ideals of Buddhism. It
revisits his dialogues with world leaders and scholars, his literary endeavors
as a novelist and poet, his cultural initiatives aimed at bringing the arts and
music to the people and his tireless commitment to education, which he regarded
as his “culminating undertaking in life.” The exhibition also features many
photographs capturing his heartfelt interactions with youth.
“The Life and Achievements of Daisaku Ikeda” runs through Sunday, January 26, 2025. Handbooks with translations in English, Korean or simplified Chinese are available for use by visitors as needed.
