Korean edition of “The Gift from the Shooting Star”
The Korean-language edition of Daisaku Ikeda’s original children’s story, Nagareboshi no okurimono (tentative English title: The Gift from the Shooting Star), has been published in South Korea by Dong-A Ilbo Co.
The book tells the story of two children
who set off in search of the greatest secret of the universe, using a magical
telescope that allows them to become anything they wish. Along the way, they
meet the guardians of the forest, the clouds and the moon, who teach them about
the noble heart they each possess. The illustrations, created by children’s
book artist Keiji Nakamura, bring a warm and inviting world to life.
First published in Japanese in 2005, the book has captivated readers of all ages. This latest edition follows the 2025 publication in Korean of another of Ikeda’s original children’s stories, Hoshi no yuenchi (tentative English title: Star Park).

In total, Mr.
Ikeda wrote more than 20 original fairy tales and children’s stories. These have
been translated and published in over 20 languages, including English, Chinese,
Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
Animated adaptations have also been broadcast on television in 26 countries and regions, including Spain, Chile, Australia and the Philippines, and enjoyed by children around the world. The official YouTube channel Daisaku Ikeda Children’s Stories features animated adaptations in six languages and has over 100,000 subscribers.
Through imaginative stories with endearing characters, Mr. Ikeda’s works convey the courage to never give up and the compassion to care for others, nurturing in children a deep appreciation for peace and friendship.
