Founder Ikeda Sends Message to the 18th Graduation Ceremony at Soka University of America

On May 27, 2022, Soka University of America (SUA) in Aliso Viejo, California, USA, held its 18th graduation ceremony. The commencement address was delivered by Iranian lawyer and activist Shirin Ebadi, who won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 for her pioneering efforts to promote democracy and human rights. SUA founder Daisaku Ikeda sent a congratulatory message to the graduates.

On April 27, 2022, Hebei International Studies University (HFSU) in Shijiazhuang, China, inaugurated a research center for the study of Daisaku Ikeda’s philosophy. In attendance were HFSU President Sun Jianzhong, Vice President Xi Wei and Dean Zhang Andi of the Japanese Language Institute.

The Ikeda Studies Centre Opens at Université Laval

On April 19, 2022, Université Laval in Québec, Canada, inaugurated the Ikeda Studies Centre for Education in Global Citizenship, Dialogue and Peace (French title: Centre d’études Ikeda pour l'éducation à la citoyenneté globale, au dialogue et à la paix). This is the first such center in the French-speaking world.

Memorial Prayers for Second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda

On April 2, 2022, the anniversary of the passing of his mentor and second Soka Gakkai President Josei Toda, Daisaku Ikeda, together with his wife, Kaneko, recited portions of the Lotus Sutra and chanted Nam-myoho-renge-kyo (daimoku) in Mr. Toda’s memory and for peace in the world.
